Woosh…. what an incredible July that was! First and foremost… the donation page is still open right here.
After 30 solid days of hard work, blood, sweat, tears, joy and broken capos (I’m now on my third one), the 30 day song challenge is officially over.
All that’s left for me to say really is a MASSIVE thank you to every single person that donated and another MASSIVE thank you to everyone that collaborated with me. You’re all incredible in different ways and I love you all.
In the end, I reached the stonkingly outrageous total of £1,571. That’s more than TEN TIMES more than my original target and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to have reached this amount… sometimes I well up just thinking about it. With gift aid, that amount reaches £1,907.87! Just, wow.
What will the money be spent on?
And if you’re wondering what the money raised does, Tenovus has very kindly sent me some interesting information about what they spend donations on.
£70 means anyone affected by cancer can call the Tenovus freephone cancer support line, 7 days a week, for help and advice when they need it most. £100 means a cancer patient can spend time with a counsellor and talk to someone who understands what they are going through. £500 means a cancer patient can receive their chemotherapy at the Tenovus Mobile Cancer Support Unit, closer to their home, saving them costly and stressful journeys to hospital.
If you missed any of the videos from the past week-and-a-bit then I present them all below. Scroll down to the bottom for the special treat that is the out takes videos. There’s a short version (just under five minutes) and a long version (just shy of 20 minutes) for whatever kind of time you’ve got. I recommend the long one… but then I would.
Predictably, there’s a fair old amount of swearing (I’m so sorry, I don’t usually swear… honest now). So, to punish myself, I donated 50p per swear… I counted 36 in the video and I hope that’s right. Please do feel free to donate per swear if you feel so inclined 😉
Just because the challenge is over doesn’t mean it’s too late to donate. I will leave the donation page open pretty much indefinitely and will be extremely grateful to anyone that donates, no matter when. I’m still accepting requests in return for donations, so if you want one of your favourite songs to be destroyed by me and my ukulele then do send one of those in.
So what’s next? Well… now I have my life back, I can resume all the things I gave up for a month. Stuff like eating properly, sleeping, having a social life… as well as other things like swimming and photography. I’m going to properly put some effort into learning the guitar now as well. Wish me luck!
Thanks again to anyone and everyone that’s donated. If you haven’t and you’ve got even £2 (that’s the minimum donation JustGiving will accept) then please do consider sending something this way.
If you missed any of the last month’s songs… there’s a playlist here with ALL of them on. That’s well over two hours of solid gold entertainment right there folks!
If you’re a Spotify user, I made a playlist of all the songs featured too (except for The Beatles, who aren’t on Spotify, sorry). Check that out here: AWESOME PLAYLIST ALERT.
Normal blogging service will resume shortly,
Thanks for watching xx
