Update: 30 day song challenge starts TOMORROW! (Please sponsor)

Hello again! I know it’s been quite a while since I last blogged, and I still haven’t uploaded any new photos… sorry about that. I’ve been pretty much using all of my spare time to concentrate on learning to play the ukulele to a reasonable degree for my 30-day song challenge, which, I can’t quite believe I’m typing… starts tomorrow! Hooray!

Um, you can donate here, if you want to.

It’s been a great couple of months planning this. At times I’ve wondered what the hell I’m doing, but most of the time it’s been good fun learning a new skill, working with other people, and of course, raising some much-needed funds for Tenovus.

That’s the first bit of awesome news. At the time of writing I have raised an incredible £545.01 (£669.79 with gift aid!)! Considering my original target was £150 (and I thought that was optimistic!) I am beyond thrilled to have reached this point before I even start the challenge. So, a massive THANKYOU to everyone who has sponsored me so far, and an equally big THANKYOU to anyone who is thinking of sponsoring in the next few days/weeks/whatever.

Hey look, you can donate HERE.

Just because the “target” has been reached doesn’t mean I don’t want your donation…. yeah?

Everybody that donates can request a song, and I’ve made a few thankyou videos with those requests by way of practice for the big event. I promise that everybody that requests something will get their own dedication video at some point by the end of 2013… that seems like a doable target, right?

Did I er, mention, that you can donate HERE?

The other piece of reasonably big news is that I’ve got myself a new ukulele. To go along with my dinky little soprano number, I’ve invested in a b-e-a-utiful tenor ukulele, which includes a set of low G strings for a fuller and deeper sound. Until I can get my bum in gear to learn guitar, this is doing a nice job of standing in for it. I’ll be using both the ukuleles throughout the challenge (for different songs, not at the same time like some kind of maniac!).

I’ve been chuffed to have so many of my (much more talented) musically inclined friends sign up to take part in the challenge too. I have a number of different collaborations coming up over the 30 days – it’s been awesome practicing and figuring out arrangements in the past few weeks, and I hope it all pays off in the final videos.

Big thanks to Emma, Howard, Tzevai, Sarah, Lottie, Lee, Carly, Andy, Jen, Sophie, Alex and Catrin who have all agreed to come on board with me for this crazy little project – watch out for those videos in due course. I’ll do a weekly update on this blog with the new videos from that week, I’m looking forward to recording them.

Hey guys, in case you didn’t know, you can DONATE HERE.

Another update should be made regarding the song choices. I really struggled to think of songs to match some of the categories, so in the end I decided to chuck out quite a few and think of my own categories. Because that’s more fun, innit. I don’t want to ruin the surprise for you on which songs I’ll be doing, but I think there are some real classics in there.

So all that’s left for me to say now is if you haven’t already done so (and you can do it again if you already have, if you *really* want to ;-)) is please please consider heading over to my JustGiving page where you can donate securely.

Are you getting bored of being asked to donate yet? Tough: DONATE HERE.

Stay tuned as of tomorrow! 🙂

P.S. Here’s a little video update I made yesterday with my gorgeous new tenor ukulele…

P.P.S Just bloody donate, alright?
