Portfolio: Lampshade workshop at The Makery for Mollie Makes

Something like six weeks ago I spent a fun couple of hours observing the very patient ladies taking part in a class at The Makery in Bath (where I work) creating lampshades.

I took photos, had a chat with the workshop leader, Ruth, and even found time to enjoy a cup of tea. The ladies looked like they had lots of fun, and it seems like lampshade making is a quick and easy craft that pretty much anyone can enjoy.

Everyone at the class more or less finished their lampshade during the morning, and I’d recommend checking out Ruth McAllister’s website, Quincy Lampshades, if doing something like this takes your fancy.

You can see my pictures and read more words about the workshop in the latest issue of the uber fabulous Mollie Makes which is out now in the real world as well digitally via places like Newstand. MM, like most things, looks beautiful on iPad.

Here’s a sneaky picture or two to whet your appetite, as well as the absolutely gorgeous front cover of this month’s magazine – pink and dogs, what’s not to like? There’s also flamingos inside (I had a flamingo themed birthday party, so I’m VERY happy with this). come on people, you know what to do…
