This post’s title probably sounds like it’s some sort of über gig with all those acts. The truth is, this is two gigs but the first set got trapped in my backlog of photos I need to edit. Shameful.
It was all the way back in August that I took the first set, but, I was hindered by my lack of flash. The first Po45 gig I photographed, I’d borrowed a flash off gig photographer extraordinaire Simon Ayre, but, this time I forgot to ask. And to make matters worse, the lighting was provided by one solitary lightbulb.
So the result is, a lot of my photos were unusable, blurred, or far too noisy. But, on the other hand, perhaps they’re a bit more atmospheric. At least I had some fast lenses with me, my 30mm and 50mm both stopping down to f/1.4.
The second set of photos are, as you might expect, in my opinion much better, especially those from The Milk Race. I’m also fortunate because the Milk Race are pretty fun to photograph, diving into the crowd at a moment’s notice.
Anyway, before I ramble on far more than is necessary, have a look at the pictures. I always have fun shooting the Pint of 45 gigs, they’re my little tiny dabble into music photography, allowing me to experiment with the genre. If you have any thoughts, comments, musings etc… do let me know.
